Renovation of
rafter framing and old wooden structure

When starting the renovation of a wooden structure, which is a rafter framing, special attention should be paid to its technical condition and the possibility of strengthening. If the structure meets the basic criteria and the reinforcement ensures the safety of the building’s inhabitants, then the works can be started. Constructing the rafter framing is definitely easier, but it does not mean that renovation is not possible.

Renovation is possible using WKFC and WKFS construction wood screws. These carpentry screws are fully threaded and are ideal for areas where structural reinforcement is required, such as undercuts in beams. The WKFC are construction screws with a pan head, which, by penetrating into the wood, reduce material stresses. The fully threaded construction screws are equipped with TX drive, which provides excellent torque transfer and allows for good tightening of the material. In addition, Klimas Wkręt-met carpentry products have been provided with a double-threaded milling tip, which allows the material to be gripped faster even with low clamping force. The carpentry screws with cutting notches on the threading easily cut through wood structures, which translates into speed of work. The ergonomics of the product are complemented by the wax coating, which significantly reduces the resistance during screwing.

Thanks to their design, carpentry screws for the renovation of wooden structures can be installed at different angles, depending on the needs and construction tasks.

Structural reinforcements are recommended wherever there is a weakening of the material. One example is the already mentioned undercuts and holes in beams; another is the roof ridge zone, where wood delamination often occurs. WKFC and WKFS screws ensure the stability of construction elements to be joined and prevent them from cracking.

The WKFC and WKFS fully threaded screws are a good alternative to the classic WKCP carpentry screws wherever there is a need to strengthen the structure without tightening its elements.
